It is a very challenging time across Australia's Event Industry with two states in extended lockdown, many border closures, and a huge amount of uncertainty.
But the situation in the Event Industry has been very difficult right through this pandemic. There is no doubt that the Event Industry has been hit harder than nearly all other industries.
As an industry we contribute over $50 billion to Australia's economy in terms of direct spend and normally employ well over 200,000 people. But that contribution is small compared to the huge positive impact we have on the lives of people right across the community and on organisations right across the economy with our events. Yet there has been minimal targeted support for our industry.
The Event Industry, what we do, and the huge contribution we make is not well understood by members of parliament and by governments.
Please use this to help you call your local federal and state/territory members of parliament to tell them how critical it is that the Event Industry gets real financial support and Covid cancel event insurance so that our industry can survive this crisis and so we can continue to make a huge contribution to life in Australia.
